Unasur Institute aims to contribute to the improvement
of the South American Health Government through the
formation of leadership, knowledge management and
technical support to health systems.
Former Health minister in Ecuador (2012-2015), Carina Vance holds bachelors degrees in Social Sciences from Liceo Internacional and in History and Political Sciences from Williams College (Massachusetts, USA). She also has a masters in Public Health from the University of Berkeley, California. Before taking over the Ministry of Health, Vance was the director of Causana Foundation, which seeks the promotion of LGBT rights.
Holding a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and International Development from Harvard University, Gabriela is graduated in Economics at Dartmouth College and has taken extension courses at FLACSO Ecuador, ISS (Netherlands), and others. Her professional career includes experience in both international and non-governmental organizations, such as UNDP, Esquel Foundation and International Amnesty USA, as well as in the public sector in Ecuador’s Ministries of Health and Education.
Rigoli holds a Medical degree from the University of the Republic of Uruguay, an M.A. Degree in Health Management from the University of Montréal and is a PhD candidate from the School of Medicine of the University of São Paulo. Felix has been working as a consultant since 2000 for institutions such as PAHO-WHO, World Bank and Inter-American Development Bank. Meanwhile, in Uruguay’s Ministry of Health, he was director of the main health services complex in the country and director of the Network of Public Primary Health Care in the city of Montevideo.
Ángela holds a degree in Chemistry-Pharmacy from the National University of Colombia, an Masters in Clinical and Health Effectiveness from the University of Buenos Aires and a PhD in Pharmaceuticals-Epidemiology from the same institution. With 15 years of experience, she was already a leader and adviser in the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Colombia, in INVIMA (National Institute for Drug and Food Surveillance), and in several projects for PAHO-WHO and the World Bank.
Hage holds a Medical degree from the Federal University of Bahia, an M.A. degree in Collective Health and a Ph.D in Public Health from the same institution. He is a member of the Panel of Experts and an Ad Hoc Adviser on International Health. He was in charge of the Communicable Diseases Surveillance Department in the Secretariat of Health Surveillance of the Brazilian Ministry of Health.
Physician/surgeon with a degree from Central University of Venezuela with a specialization in Malariology and Environmental Sanitation from the University of Carabobo. Armada holds an M.A. degree in Public Health and a Ph.D. in Health Administration and Policy from Johns Hopkins University. He was the head of the Venezuelan Ministry of Health in two occasions (between 2004 and 2007, and between 2013 and 2014). He was also Technical Officer for the World Health Organization (WHO).
Graduated in International Relations at Webster University in Geneva. Was a delegate of the Permanent Mission of Honduras to the United Nations at the 99th Session of the International Labor Conference. Worked at the ePORTUGUESEe network, in the World Health Organization, at the Human Resources in Health area. Has an MBA in International Relations from the Getúlio Vargas Foundation and is currently a master student in Public Policies and Health at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation.
Graduated in social communication at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, holds an MBA degree in International Relations at Ibmec. Worked as a public information professional at the Rio + 20 Conference and at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Between April and July 2015, she participated in the Capacity Building Program of the Permanent Mission of Brazil at the UN in Geneva (Delbrasgen). Joined the Brazilian delegation during the 68th World Health Assembly of WHO, the 104th International Labor Conference of ILO and the 29th session of the Human Rights Council of the UN.
Rosemeri Orth holds a degree in Business Administration from UNISINOS-RS, with a post-graduate degree in Financial Management, Controlling and Auditing from the Getúlio Vargas Foundation. Since 2000, she has been working in the Financial, Budget, Administration, Human Resources and Fundraising areas, working as Coordinator and Full Analyst in third sector organizations, "S" systems and service companies.
Graduated in journalism at from PUC-Rio. Worked at TV Globo and, more recently, was Press TV’s international correspondent in Buenos Aires. In Argentina’s capital, received a Masters’ Degree in International Relations & Negotiations from FLACSO, investigating issues related to global governance. Currently writes for international politics and regional integration blogs, such as “El Glocalizador” and “Asuntos del Sur”.
Graduated in Psychology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, is specialized in collective health from the Collective Health Residency at the same University. In 2012, received the Master Degree in Public Policies and Health from the National Public Health School/Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, investigating International Cooperation on HIV / AIDS in Brazilian borders. Furthermore, participated in 2013 in the Leaders in International Health Program "Edmundo Granda Ugalde" offered by the Pan American Health Organization. Currently, is doing her PhD in Global Health and Sustainabiliy at USP.
Graduated in Journalism from FACHA, with a specialization in Marketing from the University of Buenos Aires and an MBA in Digital Marketing from the Infnet Institute, Mario has worked as a reporter and content editor at the press, in TV as a producer, in communication agencies and In the Marketing area.
Graduated in Information Technology Management from the Estácio de Sá University, with technical training in Industrial Informatics recognized by the Regional Council of Engineering and Architecture (CREA) and studying for a Postgraduate Degree in Computer Network Security by Estácio de Sá University. He was Administrator and Information Technology Analyst of several companies, including companies that operate in the National Civil Aviation Agency and INFRAERO (Brazilian Airport Infrastructure Company). He participated in corporate projects in the area of technology related to Microsoft platforms and the application of ITIL best practices. He is certified in Microsoft systems, ITIL Foundation, COBIT Foundation and is currently preparing to obtain ISO 20000, by the IT Exams organization.
Graduated in Social Communication. Has experience in health and culture projects, working with institutions such as the Popular University of the Mothers of the May Square, the Sergio Arouca National School of Public Health (ENSP/Fiocruz), the Brazilian Center for Health Studies (Cebes), the Brazilian Association of Mental Health (Abrasme), Petrobras, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Culture of Brazil. Has skills in graphic production, photography, audiovisual production and executive production.
